After a long break shootings of the long-awaited series about Mukhtar started in Minsk. Creators of the series do not disclose any plot details. However, to judge by the name on a plate which is traditionally broken on the first shooting day, the series is expected to be totally reloaded.

For the first time Return of Mukhtar was aired in 2004 on the Russia channel, then it moved to NTV.
The series was twice awarded certificates of honor and medals by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for "creation of a professional image of the criminal investigation department staff and promotion of the Russian police dog service".

In 2009, the series received a special prize at the International DetectiveFEST Film Festival, and in 2015 TEFI (Television Broadcasting Award) in the "TV series" nomination.
