An experienced policeman Captain Devyatkin and a rookie Panteley Evdokimov investigate a double homicide case. A suspected killer, a subsequent offender Viktor Pertsev, murders Captain Devyatkin's best friend during a crime re-enactment and escapes. Devyatkin makes it his life goal to bring the murderer to justice.
